Taylorstown Cross Community Playgroup was established in 1983 by Mrs Ann Dixon and Mrs Anne Arrell. They had a desire for the whole community to benefit from the setting of a playgroup.

The playgroup started out in the Grange Baptist Church Hall known as the B Hut (B Specials) and opened with just 5 children on the roll. The playgroup stayed in the B Hut until 1992 when they moved to Taylorstown North School where they stayed until 1998 when the rent became unsustainable, at which point they moved to the Church of Ireland at the Pound.

At this stage funding was applied for through the EU Peace funding and through an incredible amount of hard work, dedication from staff and the management committee, the playgroup purchased some land and our current purpose built building was opened in 2000 by Mrs Ann Dixon.

The playgroup continues to thrive, now with 50 children on the roll and a excellent team of dedicated staff who work alongside our parent led committee to provide a wonderful environment for children to learn and develop.
